"It's just a phase, don't miss it!" Our approach to youth ministry is centered around maximizing every chapter of a child's life. We do this by concentrating on five phases. Phase 4 focuses on Junior High School - 8th-9th Grade.
Confirmation
8th-10th Grade
Confirmation is a two-year ministry that gathers during the school year to intentionally prepare our youth for the journey toward celebrating their Affirmation of Baptism. We do this together through various experiences. Over the two years, students study: the Ten Commandments, Lord's Prayer, Apostles' Creed, Sacraments of Baptism, and Holy Communion, as well as the Lutheran identity, Calvary ministries, and our Spiritual Growth Pathway. The Affirmation of Baptism celebration occurs on Reformation Sunday in the fall of the student's Tenth Grade year. If you have a youth who is older and would like to confirm their faith, please contact a pastor directly.

Baptism
We view the Baptism milestone as an entrance into God's family and a significant step in the formation of a living and eternal relationship with Jesus at any phase or age of life. You do not need to be a member of Calvary to celebrate Baptism here with us. By way of preparation, we offer pre-baptismal sessions with our Senior Pastor where you to meet to learn more about what Baptism means and the lifetime of support that Calvary offers.

CHARGE! Youth Retreat

Charge is an event providing a powerful faith community where students can grow in faith, engage in service, and develop leadership skills; all while enjoying the amenities of Great Wolf Lodge. Worship, small groups, congregational time, workshops, recreation options, and an outdoor campfire camp style are all elements of this powerful gathering of community! If you have any questions or cost is a factor, please reach out to us. This is a fun-filled weekend with friends and youth from other churches in Michigan!

8th Grade Bibles
In the fall, Eighth Grade students receive a new Bible which is intended to lead them into their adult faith journey. The Bibles are given along with a special blessing during worship at the start of Confirmation Ministry each year.

Vacation Bible School | VBS

Preschool-5th Grade
Vacation Bible School (VBS) is an annual summer event we hold for kids to learn more about and grow in their faith. Each year there is an exciting and engaging new theme and cast of characters. Each and every year it is an impactful experience for children from Calvary and the Clarkston community. All are welcome!
Students 6th grade and older are encouraged to volunteer as a helper or leader.

Voice of Truth Mission Trip | VOT
June 23-27, 2024
6th-12th Grade
Voice of Truth (VOT) is a local, overnight, week-long opportunity for youth and young adults to live out their faith by being the hands and feet of Jesus in surrounding communities. This is a unique experience for people of all ages with a balance of faith formation, service projects, and activities. This is a great starter mission experience.

Youth Winter Retreat

The time spent together will create memories that last and change lives. Calvary's Winter Youth Retreat is held at Springhill Camp! Have fun deepening your faith with a dynamic speaker, awesome music, great small groups, and so much fun. This retreat is filled with tons of activities like the tubing hill, archery, gym time, game room, swimming, and, of course, yummy food!
